College Domain used for MFAs and SEO
A friend informed me about this MFA (Made For AdSense) website about online movies he found from the search engine results page. Apparently, it’s not just your ordinary spam mfa site. The thing is, this website is hosted under a Philippine EDU domain.
I have registered a .EDU.PH domain before and it was not an easy task. It’s very different from the usual registration process you take when registering a .com or a .net domains on godaddy or from any domain registrar. The registration and acquisition of a .EDU.PH domain requires a lot of document processing and certifications from different government offices and agencies. The registration is being regulated and made difficult to ensure that only those who are legit are given the previlege to use a precious internet resource such as a .EDU.PH domain. Thus, those who are entrusted with such privilege should use it properly.
But it seems that the administrators of Southern Iloilo Polytechnic College are not yet aware that their College domain, sipc.edu.ph, is being used for spamming and MFAs. Made For Adsense sites or MFAs are websites created for the sole purpose of earning from visitor’s clicks on the Adsense Ads. Unlike with other legit (those who follow Google Adsense’s TOS) websites which provide useful content, the contents provided by the MFAs (Made for Adsense sites) are trash, useless and of no value.
From the SIPC MFA’s screenshot above, one can deduct the following:
- the website is owned by sipc.edu.ph, which in this case is Southern Iloilo Polytechnic College
- the site’s header tells us that it’s a source of the latest information. From where? From SIPC?
- the text ads and contents present in this page are very inappropriate for an educational insitution website (please refer to the last three circles)
Also, the site does not contain any disclaimer which separates it from the homepage of the SIPC.
The benefit of the doubt is given to the SIPC administration. I have encountered a lot of instances wherein webmaters and web administrators abuse the websites they maintain for their own benefit without the knowledge of the real site owners. Another possibility is the unmonitored usage of the webspace given to students. Some schools offer subdirectories from their websites to students.
Regardless of who did this unethical doing, the adminsitrators of the SIPC should look onto this case.

Oh my goodness! What an unethical practice!
I know a number of individuals who are tempted in doing such bad practice for money, but do these guys have no respect to the school?
I am hoping that the person behind this wrong doings be punished.
And hey, look at the adult-related links up there. ~_~

Malamang sha ang webmaster. Lolz. This post reminds me of someone I know. *grins* Anyway, kung malaki na ang kita na ‘jan, I hope bumili na sha ng sarili niyang domain at hosting. Para malinis na ulit ang website ng school.

This might be a little off subject, but have you looked at seoclientprospectingrobot dot com? Just wondering if you have any reviews of it, I’m thinking of buying a copy, and wanted to see if anyone had bought a copy yet.
