I want to share my list of “must-have” applications for those who owns an SE P1i, SE W960i or any UIQ3 device.

  1. Swiss Manager Pro
Swiss Manager Pro is an application similar to UIQ3’s Task Manager, but more robust and more powerful. It enables users to view and manage all tasks running within your system, both visible and background applications. It also has file browsing capabilities for browsing user and system files and folders.
  2. CapsSwitch
CapsSwitch is an application which hacks into your UIQ3 file system. It enables you to browse and modify the files stored in the mobile phone’s ROM. This application is quite helpful when customizing your mobile phone.
  3. fring
Connecting to Jabber, GTalk, MSN, Yahoo, etc. is not a problem anymore. Thanks to fring which enables users to connect to different IM networks at the same time. You can also use it to make calls from your Skype or SIP account using its VoIP capabilities.
  4. ShoZu
ShoZu is definitely a must have for bloggers like me. ShoZu enables me to publish contents to my wordpress blogs, flckr, YouTube, Picasa and other destinations. It also has a feature which enables you to publish photos immediately after hitting the camera button.
  5. Escarpod
Listening to your favorite podcast has never been impossible with Escarpod. Escarpod lets you subscribe and download shows from your favorite podcast source. It also has a built-in player for playing downloaded contents.
  6. Opera Mini
Even though UIQ3’s built-in browser runs on Opera engine, it still is a good idea to bring along with you this application. Opera Mini saves me time when I want to view websites in their full glory. The rendering time for Opera Mini is faster as compared to the mobile phone’s built-in browser.
  7. Mobipocket Reader
You might also want to bring your PC’s e-book library with you on your mobile phone. Mobipocket Reader is a portable e-book reader. It also organizes all e-book files present in your device. What I like about this application is it remembers the last location you left from your previous reading.
  8. Handy Safe
I usually forget important information like my Bank Account numbers, Credit Card numbers, SSS, Passport, internet passwords, etc. Handy Safe stores all these information in one safe place. It has password protection for unauthorize use of the application.
  9. I-nigma
I-nigma is a free application for scanning 2D barcodes. I use this to extract information contained in a QR 2D Barcode.
  10. The Open Source Screen Capture
This software is also necessary for those people who writes reviews about their phone. The Open Source Screen Capture enables users to take snapshots of your phone’s active display.
