Nexus One in the Philippines

After I learned about the rumors regarding the Google phone, I really got excited. It even grew worse when it was finally announced last January. It was a big disappointment though when Google announced that “the” Nexus One will only be available in United States and a few other first world countries. Hong Kong and Singapore are among the nearest choices but having the phone shipped would be troublesome since I don’t have any relatives or friends from these countries.

Google Phone, the latest news

gphone1It’s not official yet but the Google Phone (a.k.a. as the G-Phone) is making quite a buzz lately. It has been rumored that Google and HTC are brewing something better under its top secret research facilities after HTC released it’s latest Android powered smart phone.

Just today, several Google employees confirmed the existence of the rumored G-Phone. In a twit from one of Google’s Product Managers, Leslie Hawthorn confirmed that Google phone is now in their hands. Several google employees also twitted similar messages.

One guy from Mountain View said, “The new Google Phone runs on HTC hardware. I saw it w/ Android 2.1. Homescreen has new visual enhancements like animated desktop wallpaper.”

From these developments, we can safely assume that the Google Phone is the in-thing that we can anticipate in the coming year.

HTC Magic Android, exclusive from Smart

An official announcement from HTC Country Manager Mark Sergio came in today saying that Smart Communications, Inc. (SMART) will be the exclusive provider for HTC Magic™, the soon to be first Android-powered mobile phone in the Philippines.

The new Android phone will be available exclusively under SMART Gold plans by the end of June 2009.
