Windows 7 launch in Cebu

Windows 7 for all ages.
Yesterday November 21,2009 is the official launching of the much awaited Windows 7 in SM City Cebu North wing Cyberzone.
Although I didn’t really receive a blogger’s invitation for such an event (I doubt that there are any real techy event invitations in Cebu apart from the ASUS and SM wifi launching events here in Cebu) I decided to go there anyway because it was a free for all event. Upon arriving I was greeted by one of the Windows 7 people and asked to join in their little passport-stamp-quest-win-a-pen kind of thing. I did sign up the form but I never joined the quest thingy. Didn’t really get it.
I was in awe staring at the UL series from ASUS that I completely forgot that I was after the OS and not the Notebook. And so I checked the Windows 7 feature.

Talk talk talk
At one look I was already impressed with the smooth look they gave. It still carried the strong essence of the XP OS but with the beauty of Vista OS. They carried some pretty cool stuff like the Aero shake. When you shook the window all other tasks would hide. And when you shake it again, it will show again. This was just one of the super cool

features they added. But the highlight of the improvement in the Windows 7 OS is the RAM optimization.
RAM Optimization
Ram Optimization was exemplified by the running of only one task at a time. Meaning, the window currently open in front of you is the only one actually eating up the RAM. This way the RAM isn’t used up all at one use. I was able to open up 20 tasks and it did not slow the Windows 7 one bit! I was using the Asus Eee PC 1008 HA in their demo and I believe that they use only 1G RAM! But I do believe that I can’t make any quick judgement as to how good this OS is. It’s really better if I get a try of this hands on for a good 1 month.

Event Organizers need help
In general the product being promoted was very good. But the event was boring. I’m sorry to be honest but it didn’t take people long enough to stay around and actually listen to the cool stuff happening. From what I remembered, SM was really crowded, but the crowd they got in the launching was probably less than 30 people.

The talks were informative, but they have got to improve on audience impact. Second, I didn’t see a single tech blogger apart from the news and media blogger: Nancy and travel blogger: Sinjin. The right people to spread the news should have been bloggers.
Third, I dunno why but it was just really boring. The only reason why I stayed a little longer was because I wanted to ask more questions. But it was difficult to ask questions even when they said “any questions” because there was no microphone in the middle where the audience can use. What were we supposed to do? Shout?
Over all I would say for a general event I would give the event 2.5 stars. The product is really nice. They could’ve done a lot more for the promotion. Oh, and the projector was in the way of the screen so we couldn’t get a full view of the screen. As you can see in the pictures, the seated audience was a sad number. No one stayed long enough to listen because they were far back and getting tired of standing up.
So in conclusion, Windows 7 rocks! Event organizers, I know you tried your best but it’s good if you could improve. I like the set up thought, with the whole booth thingy. But it would be nice if there were signs like “Get stamped here!”.
Oh, and if someone from Windows 7 could answer these questions which I wanted to ask:
1.Is there an improvement of immunity from the viruses from Windows XP?
2.How different is the Windows 7 Ultimate from the mere Windows 7 Home basic?
3.Are the added features in Windows 7 Ultimate really a must have for users such as bloggers?
4.Does your package come in 1 user only or by 3 user licenses just like the MS word 2007?
For those who are wondering the price range it starts at 6,500 php to 15K+ php for the Windows 7 Ultimate.
