The Sony Ericsson W960iI am so happy because I finally bought my dream phone, the Sony Ericsson W960i Walkman Phone. I used a portion of my earnings from PRCBER to buy the phone.

I’ve been going to the different shops from different malls since last month to check on the prices. Finally, last week, I can’t help my urge on buying this phone. I was able to get it for PhP 21,780.00 ($484). It’s the cheapest I’ve seen from the weeks of hunting for a good price.

SE W960i is Sony Ericsson’s banner phone for 2008. It’s a camera, music (walkman) and busines phone in one. It has a built-in 8GB memory. It runs on Symbian’s UIQ3, the operating system being used by Sony Ericsson’s P-series phones. Like most UIQ3 devices, it also has touch screen capabilities. Since it’s a business phone, it has a built-in office application which permits you to create and view documents. I’m also satisfied with its 3.2 Megapixel camera which is equipped with auto focus capabilities. It’s a lot better than K608i’s 1.3 MP camera.

It was this morning that I read yesterday’s news paper issue.  As I was browsing the Business section of the daily publication, I came across the article where it says a local University partners with an international company in providing a tool for online learning.

I got alarmed when I read the line that says that the University of San Jose-Recoletos in Cebu city is the first school in the Visayas and Mindanao to use an online collaborative tool for learning.  According to the article, the university paired up with Microsoft’s Live@edu, a competitor of Google Apps for Education, in providing an online platform where students and faculty can access online services (for learning) with the use of a single e-mail account.

As far as I know, DCNHS in Davao City (Mindanao) started using Google Apps for Education one or two years ago.  They have been using Google Apps for their email services, online calendars, document sharing and other functions which comes along with Google’s services.  The claims of USJ-R to be the first to use an online collaborative tool for learning in the Visayas and Mindanao region is definitely a hoax.

I’m just hoping that the administrators of the said university will be aware that there are lots of other schools coming from Mindanao that have made use of  these kinds of technologies for learning. It’s just that these schools were not given the opportunity to publicize their little achievements.

iPhone on Globe TelecommunicationsRumors now became reality. Globe Telecoms is going to be the official carrier for Apple’s iPhone in the Philippines. There had been a soft announcement coming from Globe’s Corporate website last week but no details were disclosed. Below is a copy of Globe’s announcement. Read the rest of this entry »

Nokia Bluetooth Headset BH-604
If you’re asked to name the top gadgets of the 20th century, what would you have answered? iPod perhaps? Computers? Automatic beer bottle opener and tosser (lol)? Well a similar poll ran on Engadget some months back actually put mobile phone as number one. However if I’m asked the same question right now, as in this very moment, I’d probably put the Nokia Bluetooth Headset BH-604 above it.

The Nokia Bluetooth Headset BH-604 is the best ear gadget I tried so far. It features Hi-Fi sound, with good bass performance which do not compromise the music’s treble levels. The music player and call controls are also placed on strategic locations on the headset which enables its users to remotely control the functions of the mobile phone.

According to Nokia, the Nokia BH-604 can:

Kuya Blogie, who received his N81 (8GB edition) from World of Mobile in UK, lend me the unit last night for review. It’s my first time to use a Symbian Series 60 phone. Most of the phones that I’m using are Sony Ericsson. That’s one reason why I drool over that SE P1i.

I have not explored the phone yet so I’ll give the specifications first.
