Nokia E72 Problems

Recently, I upgraded my Nokia E71 to Nokia E72. I sold the E71 to my friend in order for me to get the Nokia E72. Little did I know that this will only bring me problems and disappointments.
The Nokia E72 is a great device but there are several things that Nokia missed during the development of this phone. I will cite some of those I have personally experienced and these are the reasons why I am disappointed with the Nokia E72.
- GPS and Maps Problem
I have used Nokia’s GPS and Maps functionality seamlessly on my Nokia E71 before and I haven’t had any problems except for the increase in lock-on time when I my phone is wearing the Otterbox E71 Case. But other than that, I can easily get my location and plot it on the Nokia Maps application using the built-in GPS alone. But with the Nokia E72, it will take forever for you to lock your location if you depend on the built-in GPS receiver of your phone. You have to turn-on the A-GPS support first in order for you to lock with the satellites. This will incur an additional cost on your part (depends on your service provider) since it will require data connection with Nokia’s positioning server in order for it to get your current location. And speaking of satellites, they also removed the satellite status dialog in the GPS Data application. With the E72, you won’t be able to know how many satellites you’ve locked on as well as the connection status of these satellites.
- Nokia Messaging’s HTML Support and Image DownloadsIf you have used the Nokia Messaging application on the Nokia E71, you might have loved the option wherein you can automatically download your mail in HTML format and the option to enable or disable automatic download of images. But guess what happened? Nokia removed these features from the native Nokia Messaging of the Nokia E72 (and Nokia E75). Nokia also set the Messaging app to view e-mails in text format which makes HTML messages appear as HTML codes when opened. I do hope Nokia will implement the functionality to specify how you’d want your email to appear when opened and the option to opt-out for automatic image download when viewing an email.
- Contact Shortcut not working fine Another problem that I noticed from the E72 is the inability of the Contact shortcut key to create a new contact when long-pressed. It’s supposed to show the add contact dialog but with the E72, nothing happens except that it loads the main Contacts application.
