Manila Maps now available on Google Maps!

Philippine Street Map on the Nokia N82 Symbian S60 Platform
After the long wait, Google finally released the updated Manila Map for Google Maps. The recent Google Maps update include detailed street maps of major Philippine cities like Metro Manila, Cebu City, Davao City, and Cagayan de Oro City among others.
Though Google did not give any official press release, the updates were first noticed last Sunday after the collated map data from the Google Mapmaker for Philippines were deployed into the web version of Google Maps and Google Latitude. The deployment for Google Maps Mobile (for Symbian, iPhone, iPod Touch and other mobile platforms) followed later this week.
This action is a major breakthrough for Google Philippines after its first attempt of mapping the country through its Google Map Maker which was launched last year. Google Map Maker, on which the new Philippine street maps were based, is a community application which allows users to contribute map data about their own locality. The launch of the updated Google Maps – Philippine maps is an indication that the Google Map Maker project was a success.
Anybody can now explore the Philippines through their fingertips. GPS users can now use Google Maps for their mobile GPS applications and GPS hardware.
