iPhone in Asia
Rumors now became reality. Globe Telecoms is going to be the official carrier for Apple’s iPhone in the Philippines. There had been a soft announcement coming from Globe’s Corporate website last week but no details were disclosed. Below is a copy of Globe’s announcement.
Globe, SingTel, Bharti Airtel and Optus to bring iPhone to the region
Manila, 12 May 2008 – Globe, SingTel, Bharti Airtel and Optus today announced that they have signed an agreement with Apple to bring the iPhone to the Philippines, Singapore, India, and Australia later this year.
More information will be released at a later date.
It’s a good news for these Asian countries. I’m just wondering if Apple will release the Apple iPhone 3G Edition in time for the official release of iPhone for the Asia Region.
Apple first released iPhone in United States on June 29, 2007, was followed by Europe in November 2007. The latest report is the Asian and South American release in the late part of 2008.

I have this sinking feeling that what we’ll get here in Asia are the old-model iPhones and not the 3G variety. Kung baga, the old stock will be shipped out to us…
