Intel disclosed on Thursday a “significant” investment in a Google Glass rival, Recon Instruments.
The investment from Intel will be used to help the company’s product development, marketing and global sales expansion, the Canadian company said in a statement. Recon also said that they would benefits from “benefit from Intel Capital’s expertise in manufacturing, operations and technology,”.
“In Recon Instruments, we see compelling technology and a solid strategy to capitalize on the wearable revolution,” Mike Bell, general manager of New Devices Group at Intel, said in a statement.
Recon instruments is a leader when it comes to heads-up displays (HUD) for sports. Their range include products such as the Reconjet (the image you see at the top). They have shipped over 50,000 heads-up displays worldwide and have also had a “successful campaign” in Apple retail stores the company said.
