Smart Gold Lite

Smart’s new offering, Smart Gold Lite, is a new set of postpaid consumable plans (e.g. 300, 500, etc.). The new product is convenient for those who are tight in budget. Unlike with the normal Smart Gold plans where they normally charge calls at a cheaper rate, Gold Lite charges its mobile users with a fixed rate of 2 pesos per minute for intra-network calls. A normal Smart Gold plan charges users with 4 pesos to 6.50 pesos per minute (4 – 6.50 / min) depending on the type of postpaid plan.
I was able to get my basic Smart Gold Lite plan for 300 pesos per month. From this plan, I get approximately 150 minutes of Smart-to-Smart calls every month. In case the 300 peso allocation is not enough, the excess will be charged on top of the 300 monthly consumable allowance. You can also set your credit limit up to three times the amount of your plan.
The application process is also easy. The necessary requirement is just a valid ID with your billing address on it. My application took some time though because of some account discrepancies with my SmartBro, which I left inactive until now since I left for Cebu. But a friend was able to get his SIM in the afternoon after filing his application in the morning.
You can apply at any Smart Wireless center anywhere in the whole Philippines.

The plans are very good. I’ve been looking for something like this since I was a student. I mean, I wanted to have my own postpaid line since freshman year but the plans were all for large sums. The worst part was for the other requirements. I am a student living with my parents, where in the world would I get my own proof of billing? I am not working so no proof of income either. I couldn’t take out an extension plan on my parents phone ’cause it was company issued, questions might arise. So, a lot of problems. This requirements were all needed because of the free handset. I didn’t need a new handset, but it was part of their plans. I’ve heard of SIM only plans but it was only very recent and they still needed a proof of income. But then this comes along. Thank God they thought of this. I’ve availed for the same plan, 300 and application was very easy. I was able to get my SIM card in half a day and had an activated line in less than 6 hours. So it took only one day to apply and use the SIM. This is a very great deal and very much worth it. BTW: For those that want bills to be delivered monthly, you might want to apply for 500. Ask the details at your Smart Wireless Centers.

Yah sounds good but when you consumed your 500 peso limit, they will disconnect your line and you need to pay 300 for the re activation. You wont be able to send sms once you receive check operator services message. Damn parang prepaid kaya ka nga nag line e. Ask Smart about it and you will know!

I didn’t know that. My line got disconnected before but they did not charge me a peso, except for the amount I consumed. They gracefully restored my line few minutes after I reported my payment.

the problem I guess is how to track the amount you’ve actually consumed. coz if you check your balance, it will only state that you have zero balance with say P1000 credit limit for plan 800. kinda unfair right? you don’t know if you’ve underconsumed or if you’ve already exceeded the plan amount
