The much anticipated Google‘s Chrome OS is scheduled to go live on this year’s fall. Sundar Pichai, Google’s VP for product management, made the announcement earlier today during the CompuTex in Taipei. “We are working on bringing the device later this fall”, quoted from Mr. Pichai.

The Chrome operating system, according to earlier reports, will be designed for better internet experience on netbook computers. It will be an open source, lightweight platform that can power computers ranging from small netbooks to full-size desktop systems. And most of all, the new operating system is going to be free.

One of the local brands for computers and laptops is the Neo Laptops. They seem to be getting quite a name here in our country and they are rather aggressive when it comes to marketing.

I have to say it was quite a surprise for us when their style of launching their netbooks and laptops involved riding on an Edge Coaster and presenting the laptops. (I was quite afraid that they might drop those expensive products) More »

Asus Eee PC 1005HA vs 1008HA: The Seashell battle

September 5th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Laptops, netbook

Asus 1008HA asus-eee-pc-1005ha-m-1005ha-h_2

So with the rise of the two seashell netbooks, we would like to ask, which is better? The 1005HA or the 1008HA?

The following answers will not be true to everyone so lets start by having a little comparison.

First of all the two are just the same in terms of RAM, processor and the like. The only thing that differs in the two is the size/weight and the battery.

So here are the strengths  and weaknesses  of 1005HA over 1008HA

1.Battery life: lasts about 10.5 hours  while 1008HA is about 7-8 hours

2.Size/weight: slightly heavier and bulkier compared to 1008HA

3.Battery: you can remove the battery, while 1008HA is built in

So coming into consideration:

-if you are a student and you need a netbook for long hours of use, then the 1005HA is for you

-if you only plan to use the netbook for a couple of hours then the 1008HA is for you

-if you can’t handle a couple of inches bulk and a few hundred grams more weight, then 1008HA is for you

-if you are conisdering long hours of usage or movie watching then 1005HA is for you

-price wise the 1008HA is around 2K php more expensive than the 1005HA.
