Exploding SE K608i Standard Charger
I was charging my Sony Ericsson K608i this morning when I heard an explosion from my room. Our circuit breaker immediately tripped after I heard the sound, an indication that there has been a short circuit. I immediately ran into my room only to find out that the cause of the explosion was my K608i’s Standard Charger (CST-13). Thanks to Sony Ericsson’s charger design that the damage did not reach my phone. My phone is still working as of this time.
I’ve been using this charger since I was in college. This is the second charger that I used for my K608i after the first one stopped working. Since then, I never encountered any problems with the CST-13, of course not until this morning. My theories are: there has been a power surge that resulted to the explosion of the CST-13 or my charger reached its life’s limit. The second one’s so unlikely so I’m clinging more on to the former.
If you have experienced the same experience as I had, please share them in my comments section. I guess I’ll have to look for a new charger again.
Here are some photos of the charger after it exploded:

I like this version of the charger pa naman. Kasi yung normal prongs, di yung pabilog. Then napansin ko na mas less prone to “loose” connection sya kaysa nung version na pabilog na prongs. Sana it was just a fluke rather than a normal manufacture defect. Tsk Tsk Tsk.
