A new market place opens in the Philippine internet.  Just recently, through the assistance of Singapore Press Holdings and Schibsted ASA,  701 Search Inc. launched AyosDito.ph in the country. AyosDito.ph is a venue for Filipinos to buy and sell different items online.

Who wouldn’t notice AyosDito.ph’s presence in the internet after they launched several campaigns in the internet. I first saw them sponsoring the biggest gathering of Filipino Bloggers, the iBlog 5 – Philippine Blogging Summit last May 9.  The image banners they brought from G00gle AdWords are also conspicuous in several websites I visited.

Unlike any other Filipino market place online, AyosDito.ph tries to localize the different places in the Philippines by dividing the market place according to location.  The common problem being encountered by online consumers is the difficulty of getting a seller from the consumer’s location.  It’s also an advantage for Cities selling City-specific goods since it narrows down the the number of possible results when looking for items.

What does a typical Filipino do in an online market place?

Based on my observation, a typical Filipino online consumer spends time in online market places like AyosDito.ph to:

  • get market prices of brand new and used items
  • buy cell phones, accessories, cameras, laptops, computers, etc.
  • sell used items
  • market and sell store products
  • look for the latest trends in technology

AyosDito.ph, in its first month of operations, shows a noticeable growth of it’s community. It has gathered a lot of visitors, advertisements and has recieved positive reviews and support from its users, advertisers and the online community among others.  I’m looking forward for more success stories about AyosDito.ph.
