The much awaited iPad 2 by Apple was finally unveiled yesterday by no other than Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. A lot were surprised that Jobs appeared to give the talk  given that he recently filed a temporary medical leave.

So what’s new with the iPad 2? What are its specs and upgrades from the previous version of iPad? The iPad 2 is much thinner and lighter weighing just 1.3lbs, down from the 1.5 lbs weigt of its predecessor. It also comes in two colors – black and white. AT &T and Verizon will be the initial supporters of its 3G mobile broadband capability.

Starting next week, March 11, 2011, Apple will begin shipping iPad 2 in the US. Two weeks after that, on March 25, it will also be available in at least 26 countries.

Aside from the mentioned specs above, the iPad 2 has a dual camera, one in front and at the back enabling users to use its new “Face Time” feature.
