We just finished the month of February when the release date of the much awaited HTC Thunderbolt first surfaced. The rumor began with February 10 as the release date. However, that did not materialize and the said release date was pushed to February 24 to give way to the release date of the iPhone 4 by Verizon.
We published an article here pointing to March 21 as the new release date. However, after careful investigations, the Facebook page we used as a reference was not the official page owned by Verizon Wireless. In fact, we found some inconsistencies that includes the statement “available in early February” and the “16 GB” micro SD card that comes with the package.
As we begin the month of March, numerous rumors have again surfaced, the most recent of which was the March 10 release date. Accordingly, the date came from a leaked Best Buy mobile line up as shown below:
Still, we cannot ascertain the validity and authenticity of the image above. But since Verizon is used in releasing new phones in the market on Thursdays, perhaps we can hold on to March 10, which is Thursday, as the release date for now.
As reported by various sources, the most possible reason for the delay is the battery life of the unit. With HTC Thunderbolt’s 4G and LTE capabilities among other features, its battery life will certainly be put into test. Perhaps they are still fixing issues and that includes its battery life for buyers not to get disappointed when they officially released it.
As of now, the only official announcement that we have from Verizon says “Hey fans, we appreciate all the excitement about the anticipated launch of the ThunderBolt by HTC. We’re excited too! Verizon 4G LTE is America’s fastest, most advanced 4G network & we want to ensure the advanced technology behind our first 4G LTE phone is flawless. We will announce its release date as soon as it is confirmed. Thanks for your support & patience while we work to bring you the ThunderBolt by HTC” which can be seen in their official Facebook page here.
Right now, since no official release date has been said, all we can do is to subscribe to the official HTC Thunderbolt’s page at Verizon Wireless here. You just need to enter your email address to the space provided to get updated on the official release date of the HTC Thunderbolt.
