Dell Streak 7: Dell goes 7 inches

The first high end android tablet that I know of was the Samsung Galaxy Tab. Sized at 7 inches I fell in love with the size. Even before then I already kept a close watch at those Android tablets and the Dell streak was one of the first few. The only problem (for me) was it was merely 5 inches.
For some reason I find 10 inches too big for portability, 5 inches too close to being a phone (and yet too big to not be one), and then there’s the 7 inches. By then Goldilocks took the words out of my mouth by saying “It’s juuuuusst right.”
Though a lot of people praised Dell’s choice of 5 inches for a tablet I’m not surprised if Dell had this 7-inch option all along .
If you’ve read about the Dell Streak 5 then there’s not much to talk about this. I just don’t like how it’s still stuck in the Froyo world (it seems that Dell is consistent with sticking to Old Mobile OS, kinda like their Dell Venue. Come on Dell, please use newer OS versions.
While some sites like Wired.co.uk say its design loses against the Galaxy Tab, it also praises one VERY important factor: performance.
Then again even if this strong factor is a plus point, the minus points are highly considerable:
- Android 2.2 (i dunno if they’re pulling out an update anytime soon)
- USB cannot charge, yep you’ll need to charge using the charger
- heating up after few hours of use
- battery life is short (yes, says wired.co.uk)
I just can’t help but point out the NIVIDIA Tegra 2 processor. It’s just sad that the other factors weren’t as strong though. IMHO the Galaxy Tab is still in my wishlist.
Would you guys buy a Dell Streak 7? What do you think?
