MSI U115 Hybrid Netbook

MSI recently launched its new U115 Hybrid Netbook. Unlike MSI’s previous Wind models which run on HDD, the U115 can operate on both SSD and HDD at the same time (where it got its “hybrid” name). Though it operates on both storage mediums, this laptop is designed to take advantage of its SSD capabilities. It primarily uses the SSD as its main storage for OS and OS related applications while it reserves the HDD for secondary storage. The U115 has an Eco Mode button which can disconnect the HDD for power saving. More »

Sony Ericsson’s after sales service, err is not so good
It has been a few months since this incident happened. Kuya Migs of migsmobile.net has been asking me to blog about this since then.
It all started when I accidentally dropped my two-month old SE W960i. The whole LCD screen was halved and the phone’s housing received terrible scratches. I immediately brought my unit to Ayala Center Cebu’s Sony Ericsson Concept Shop, the nearest Sony Ericsson service center (MemoXpress) from my apartment in Cebu City. After waiting for almost a week and paying hell lots of monies for the replacement LCD, I was able to claim my phone with it’s display in good working condition. More »

Techykid.com, now on 2.7
Techykid.com, which runs on the WordPress, has upgraded to 2.7 immediately after the latest version of the WordPress CMS was released. One of the major changes done on 2.7 is its Dashboard’s new feel and look. The first time I saw the 2.7 Dashboard in action was during the WordCamp 2008 in Manila. Matt Mullenweg, author and creator of the best blogging software today, introduced and did a live demo of the new features available of version 2.7.
Upgrading to wordpress 2.7 was a breeze using the Wordpress Automatic Upgrade plugin. It took me only a minute or two to change from 2.6.x to 2.7. And mind you, I did not experience any difficulty while upgrading.
On the other note, cheers to my friend Mica who recently launched her own technology blog, Myxtechnology.com. Mica, who’s one of Philippine’s known bloggers, runs several sites including her personal blog on micamyx.com. Few weeks ago, told me about her plans of creating a tech blog. She has been attending several tech events in the metro and does write-ups of these events in her personal blog. Also, her friends who also runs tech sites convinced her to start working on her own technology site. Good luck Mica!
