Nokia Ovi Maps receives 3.06 updates
Good news to all our Nokia Ovi Maps users out there. Nokia recently released version 3.06 of the favorite built-in Nokia Ovi Maps application. The newest update includes a long list of improvements and enhancements in the performance of Nokia Ovi Maps in Nokia N8 and other recently released Nokia handsets. The most significant enhancement that has been added in version 3.06 is the inclusion of the Public Transport Lines in the maps application. This addition gives the owners of Nokia N8 and other Nokia Symbian devices equipped with GPS in many countries an advantage in user navigation.
Over the years, Nokia have continued in improving its mapping services. Several cities in different countries have already received map information from Nokia. In some instances, the information coming from Nokia is more accurate than the commercially available information in several countries. A classic example of the most mapped country is India wherein majority of its cities have already uploaded map data.
The availability of more map information to different countries is one of the strongest marketing points of Nokia over any other mapping application and/or mobile phones with mapping and navigation capabilities.
You can download maps directly on your mobile phone using WiFi and from now on you do not need to depend upon the Nokia Ovi Suite for more map updates. You can even pause the download once you move out of a WiFi hot-spot and again continue later. The only drawback being that it only supports WiFi for map downloads as of now and this might change in the future versions allowing 3G as well.

May I ask confirmation whether my E63 will ever get to download & experience OviMaps within its current configuration? Any timeline for a catch up to this latest version? Or is Nokia abandoning us E63 users? Answer would be most appreciated,.
