Google Introduces Nexus S and Gingerbread
Android fan boys just had a reason to get excited today. Google introduced the latest version of the Android platform called Gingerbread. And with it, the next Android device from the Nexus line, the Nexus S.
Nexus S will be the first Android device to ship with the Android 2.3 or Gingerbread platform. The Nexus S was co-developed with Samsung. According to the team that developed Nexus S, the Android device delivers what they call a “pure Google” experience. The mobile phone is unlocked and has an unfiltered access to Google mobile services and Android releases and updates.
Nexus S is the first smartphone that has a 4” Contour Display, a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, front and rear facing cameras, and a 16 GB internal memory.
Gingerbread features user interface refinements, a new keyboard, Internet calling, and an improved copy/paste functionality. It is the fastest version of Android as of the moment.
Nexus S can be purchased online and in-store from all Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores in the U.S. by December 16. And by December 20, it will also be available at the Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy retailers in the U.K.
