Samsung Galaxy Tab VS iPad: Specs and Price

Much has been said about the iPad since its release and I must say it’s one of the most discussed gadgets this year. There were the people who said that it was way too expensive and impractical for purchase and there are those who praise the invention and even say it’s one of the best innovations of the year.
So some of the people are happy. I found it quite impressive myself, but then, is the Tablet gonna be the only one in the market? Well there were the likes of Archos, Dell Streak and many more but I guess what caught my attention was the Samsung Galaxy Tab.
So enough with the introduction and let’s go to comparing the specs with this thing:
*we are basing the comparison of the ipad on the 3G model
Screen:
The Samsung Galaxy Tab has a nice 7 inch size screen which makes it 3 inches bigger than a usual cellphone and 3 inches smaller than the average netbook screen. I think it makes a clear distinction as a tablet. Some prefer it bigger so points go to the 9.7 inch screen of the iPad. It would’ve been awesome if they used Super Amoled on the Galaxy Tab.
Weight:
The Samsung Galaxy Tab is about 380g which is significantly lighter than the iPad’s 680g. Of course we can easily attribute that to the large screen of the iPad but I guess both are still significantly light unless you want to go 300 grams lighter then the Samsung Galaxy Tab is your choice.
Battery Life:
The iPad supposedly wins on this one since it’s been proven to run on 10 hours while watching videos and 9 hours while running on3G internet (wow). As for the Samsung galaxy Tab the specs show a 7 hour battery life but further testing needs to show how long it can really last.
Memory:
Although the iPad has an awesome 64G memory inside it as compared to the Galaxy Tab’s 16G internal and 32G micro SD capacity, iPad is at a disadvantage especially if a person does not have iTunes in his computer (I personally don’t like the idea of having to install iTunes just to access my gadget, what if I wanna open it up in someone else’s computer?) The Galaxy Tab has the option to use your external memory like a flash drive so file transfer is SUPER EASY.
I’ve been using my Galaxy Spica for some time and I can attest to how easy it is transfer files in Android powered phones.
Apps:
I got hand it over to Apple for some awesome graphics and supremely fun games… in their iPod touch.
I haven’t really heard of games being played in iPad but some reviews suggest it not too good for games and there aren’t too many apps that are free and iPad ready. Same goes for Android apps; not too many are built for tablets. What I don’t like about Apple apps is that you have to purchase most of them… unless you jailbreak
Camera
With Galaxy Tab’s flash and 3.0mp camera? Galaxy Tab wins over the iPad where you still need to purchase a separate camera accessory. Don’t forget that the camera of Galaxy Tab can also capture full HD! (this will explain the price of the Galaxy Tab)
Web Browsing
A lot of commended on the smooth flow of Web browsing in iPad but then the extremely controversial issue: NO FLASH 10.1. With Samsung Galaxy Tab running on Android 2.2 you can view all the flash you want! (but dear Android developers, please let Youtube app come with a “download video for offline viewing” option next time. Ktnxbai)
Sim Card
Unlike the iPad (where I’ve heard countless failed attempts of cutting their original sims to turn them into micro sims), the Galaxy Tab utilizes the original sim card and there will be no need of any cutting at all.
Price
Last time I checked it was priced at 999$ for the Samsung Galaxy Tab in Australia. (awts >.< quite expensive) The 64G 3G + wifi iPad is priced at 829$ free shipping from the Apple Website.
So good luck choosing which one to finally buy, but personally, I think I’ll wait for actual reviews of the Galaxy Tab before finalizing my decision.

Flash sucks on the Galaxy Tab and they even use it as a sellingpoint!

YEA… because you can’t use flash at all on an ipad…. so whether it sucks or not, at least it’s there on the galaxy!
