PS3 3.5 Update brings 3D

The long been awaited firmware update from PlayStation 3 has been deployed. The latest update for Sony’s game console, PS3 3.5 update, enables it to play 3D Blu-ray Discs. People with firmware version 3.5 in their PS3s can now watch 3D movie titles with their PS3s attached to a 3-D television. The update was released yesterday but the features included in the update has long been announced weeks ago.
Aside from the Blu-ray 3D playback, several features were also included in PS3 version 3.5. One of these features is Facebook integration with supported games. Sony now allows game developers to integrate Facebook into their game titles. This will enable the supported games to access public information (from Facebook) for a more enhanced gaming experience but Sony has not announced yet the available game titles that support this feature.
Another feature is the enhancement of its reporting and feedback feature. Users can now report abusive PlayStation Network players from their own consoles.
The PlayStation Firware Update 3.5 is available for free from your PlayStation 3 gaming console.

Since the recent PS3 update I have been having trouble playing blu-ray discs. They just stop playing and I get an error message that it is an invalid disk. Is this happening because of the new update or is something else?
