Twidroid, one of the most popular Twitter clients for Android, was just acquired by TweetUp. Twidroid will then be renamed as Twidroyd. The said Twitter client will be included in the new phones produced by 5 leading manufacturers. Aside from Twidroid, TweetUp will also acquire popurls which is included in the same transaction.
Why it will be renamed to Twidroyd?
TweetUp wants to ensure that Twidroyd would have a lot less confusion with Lucas Films’ “droid”. The term “droid” is a trademark owned by Lucas Films.
What is popurls?
Popurls aggregates the most popular items from the New York Times, Twitter, Digg, Delicious, Reddit, YouTube, Flickr and other news and social media sites.
